Have you ever wanted to play a bishoujo game, but just didn't want to see all those embarrassing naughty parts? Probably not; I may be the only otaku alive who fits into that category. However, I'm going to be an optimist here and assume that some of you will be interested in the new, non-ero version of KiraKira that just became available at the all-ages branch of Manga Gamer. Originally released in 2007, KiraKira (the title of which is Japanese onomatopoeia for Sparkle, Sparkle) hasn't received any gameplay additions, but you can still guide a budding punk band to stardom.
Thankfully, the all-ages version is about ten bucks cheaper than the original title, so you're not being charged for the content that was taken out. The new version will set you back €29.95 (about forty bucks USD), which may sound expensive, but keep in mind that this is a game with full voice-over- a feature not standard in this genre. Since there's no trial version for this version as of yet (and I'm NOT downloading the trial of the hentai version, although you can), I can't tell you much about the game, but this is how Manga Gamer sums it up in their press release:
Using band and Rock'n'Roll as its theme, it depicts the story of young people overcoming hardships and growing up to be adults.
Uh...well then. That could have been more informative. If you happen to be saving up all your cute-girls-with-guitars love for the return of K-ON!, you might want to hold out for Higurashi When They Cry Kai: Meakashi, another all-ages title that's slated for release on February 28th, 2010. The new Higurashi title will be €19.95, and promises much suspense- there won't be any voices, though. Decisions, decisions!
