It might just be my strange sensibilities, but I don't really see the point to alcohol-free beer. I'm not one for beer in general, but generally I don't know of anyone drinking it solely because they love the taste -- usually they're looking to partake in the benefits of alcohol.

Kirin Free, their alcohol-free beer, has an ad campaign that strikes me as a little...odd. It features a bunch of pregnant women in a park drinking beer. Now, despite the fact that I know it's alcohol-free, it immediately conjures up all those images from high school health class when they talked about fetal alcohol syndrome, and just creeps me out a bit.

Take a look at the ad after the jump and let us know what you think. I'll be over here in the corner, slightly confused and scared.

Was today food and beverage Wednesday on Japanator?
We're just hungry people.
I quite drinking a few months ago and when im out i will enjoy a cold O'douls, and it is purely for the taste and refreshment of a cold malt beverage.and no im not an alcoholic.
I'm more worried about the kids looking like they're cheering their mothers on.

"Drink that beer, mommy! It'll make it easier to beat up my baby brother!"
Silly Pepsi, Hikikomori-cola would sell MUCH better in Japan.
Not sure thats really the audience you should be targeting... . but w/e, not really scary, but it is odd for sure.
Kid's beer...Pregnancy beer...what inappropriate target group is next?
Don't know about alcohol-free, but Kirin's standard beer is among the best I've ever tasted, imo.

And the next thing we want is beer for when we go swimming. If you take this idea I want royalties.
I never tasted alcohol-free beer, is it any good? Maybe it's just me, but I hate to get drunk, seriously. Dead-drunk, out-of-myself-drunk, to the point of doing stupid stuff, at least. But I like beer, so I would try that.
There's a German brand, Clausthaler, which is either 0.5% or 0% alcohol. I used to drink that when I wanted to drive. It was OK. Lots of bulk lagers are pretty tasteless anyway.
I love the taste of good beer. But I have yet to taste a good non-alcohol beer.
