Earlier this week, Prime Minister Hatoyama spoke to the Diet in a situation not unlike the State of the Union here in the US. Seeing as his own party, the Democratic Party of Japan, holds a strong majority and Hatoyama has high approval ratings, his speech was met with raucous applause.
The Liberal Democratic Party had some misgivings about it, with LDP leader Sadazaku Tanigaki saying, "I got the impression that the atmosphere in parliament was similar to the Hitler Youth agreeing to Hitler’s speech."
Pulling the Hitler card already, LDP? From what I remember reading of Hatoyama's speech, there were no calls to round up the Jews, or to declare war on foreign nations. In fact, they seem to be pushing Japan in the right direction, trying to get them out of a Cold War mentality where bureaucracy and cronyism ran deep.
So, since they're moving away from your ideals, the DPJ is going to be the second coming of the Nazis? I really don't think Hatoyama has it in him to rename the JSDF the Kwangtung Army Part II. Now if the Happiness Realization Party were in charge, I'd be a bit more worried.
God, what sore losers.
