Level 5's Youkai Watch has a new gameplay trailer

Apr 15 // Elliot Gay

It looks exactly like a Level 5 game.

Level 5 can be pretty hit or miss with the way they treat their franchises. Most of their big series suffer from overly frequent releases that hurt their sales. That being said, Level 5 did some great work last year, and I'm crossing my fingers that they can keep up the pace.

Their next big new game, Youkai Watch, is a Pokemon-like RPG for the Nintendo 3DS. Players capture ghosts/monsters, and use them in battles against other creatures. The kicker? Combat is carried out through a strange wheel system. The production values look to be top notch, and the whole shebang is super colorful. There's no mistaking that this is a Level 5 game.

I'm a bit concerned that the battle system will end up being too simple, but for now, I'm cautiously optimistic. Check out the new gameplay trailer above and let us know what you think in the comments below!
