If you are a fan of Go Nagai, magical girls, and/or super robots, then get ready to go nuts (In a good way), because Discotek's new acquisitions are the original Cutie Honey anime and all 92 episodes of the original Mazinger Z anime.

By the end of next year, Discotek plans to release their first DVD box set for Mazinger Z, along with a complete set for Cutie Honey during 2013. I hope that Discotek manages to reach out to fans that desire their old school Go Nagai fix, since older animes have been hard to sell lately. Considering that both shows feature segments that would influence future trends in animes, there might be some people that would be curious to own the two shows as a piece of anime history. 

To those that are unfamiliar with both shows, Mazinger Z has Kouji Kabuto pilot a giant robot against the evil forces of Dr. Hell. Whereas Cutie Honey tells the story of an android known as Honey that uses her powers to materialize matter out of thin air as she fights against the organization going by the name of Panther Claw. If there is one thing that both shows have in common, it's that both protagonists are facing an evil group that took the life of someone very close to them. 

Hopefully, their popularity could lead to the licensing of the newer version of both shows in the form of Re: Cutie Honey and Shin Mazinger Shogeki! Z-Hen, since more Go Nagai is never a bad thing (At least in my opinion.).
