Manga promotes itself by mentioning popularity on 4chan photo

Often regarded as the asshole of the internet, 4chan doesn't have the greatest of reputations. Without delving into it, people and companies often don't want to be associated with the anything-goes website. This makes it all the more strange when the website is used to help market a product.

It may not be mentioned directly by name, but 4chan is referenced on the bottom cover slip of the first volume of It's Not My Fault That I'm Not Popular! The advertisement reads "On a foreign 2chan-like board, this manga has become extremely popular!" 4chan isn't as well known in Japan, so describing it as a "foreign 2chan" will make a lot more sense to potential buyers.

It's not hard to see why this manga about an unpopular girl is so popular on 4chan. The comic follows an awkward girl who wishes she could talk to people better, something that many Anonymous might sympathize with. It's Not My Fault That I'm Not Popular! has become popular on /a/, and even the original mangaka, Tanigawa Nico, has noticed.

Of course, the foreign praise also included several dick photos being sent to Tanigawa, as you'd expect from 4chan. She's taken it in stride though, stating "Since I'm not a voice actress, I really don't care, so it's ok" and thanking her normal fans. Props to her for not feeding the trolls.
