I wouldn't go so far as to consider myself OCD, but I do like it when I own a series of something and the spines all match up. I was less than pleased when Viz changed their logo several years back, but I'm not so far gone that I need to have the original editions of each PS2 game I own (as opposed to the red-labeled greatest hits edition).
And so when I caught this story from comics212, I couldn't help but laugh and share it with you. My manga shelf can look a little unorganized with titles that have been running for several years, but that's probably because I'm not holding onto any stuff from Bandai Entertainment. That stuff is just ridiculous in its spine design.
Like a snowflake, no two volumes are identical in where they have information printed. I guess that's being unique, but that's being kind. Apparently these spine designs for Code Geass have been changing every single month, which I must applaud, for it seems to be a feat that's hard to achieve.
Check out the Eureka Seven manga as well (I'm packing that in Japanese, so I don't have to worry about the spines), where it goes Vol. 1, unlabeled, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2. I don't envy retailers trying to stock these titles. And I feel bad for the kids who buy these at Borders, only to end up buying something completely unrelated by mistake.
