Any Macross Frontier fanatics should have poked their heads up when Anime Expo announced their next guests last night:  It's Sheryl and Ranka! The songstresses behind the two anime idols will be in the land of the Governator this July and perform at the Nokia Theater in LA.

Having had the good fortunes to see May'n and Megumi Nakajima (or Mamegu as she'll have you call her) live last summer, I can say without reservation that their appearance at Anime Expo 2010 will be something you will not want to miss. May'n is a pro at getting the crowd going and Nakajima's charm is more than just nyan nyan quality. Even if you're some jaded elitist jerk, it's hard to not enjoy a couple young, cute and 110% energetic girls doing all they can to make some great memories with the crowd. And then there's the added bonus that both of them can belt out a real tune.

Those lucky AX attendees will also get a chance to ask them questions and get autographs, as per the usual perks that come with an American anime convention. Japanese shows are nowhere nearly as accessible. 

What's more exciting is that a mystery guest will join the two of them at the Nokia Theater. The press release does not say who, and I can do a drill down to all the possible candidates, but why take all the fun out of it? I'll leave the name dropping up to you in the comments. Personally I'm banking on the same people behind this modern hit.
