Now, isn't this an interesting one? Satoshi Kon's film Millennium Actress is bound for the stage in Japan. The theatre company Take It Easy will be putting on the performance at the end of the month, starting in Osaka, and then moving to Tokyo and running a set of shows at the end of February, followed by a few shows in April at Fukuoka. Thinking about the film, it's entirely possible to move it to the stage -- a place where it might in fact do rather well. The story stays firmly planted in the past, and it's entirely plausible for the director to move into that timeframe as well -- returning to the present would be a good way to switch acts. Honestly, I'm really bummed I'm missing out on something like this. If you're lucky enough to be in any of these regions at the allotted times, be sure to check out a production -- tickets only cost about 4,000 yen. Even if you don't fully understand Japanese, if you've seen the movie, you might be able to fumble your way through.
