Did you cringe and/or projectile vomit the first time your heard Billy Crystal's voice come out of Calcifer's mouth in the English dub of Howl's Moving Castle? Well, then this news isn't for you. However, those of you with a more open mind toward English voice acting will have much to look forward to when the dub of Miyazaki's latest Ghibli joint hit theaters.

Ghibli World has announced the initial list of English voice talent for the dub version of Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cate Blanchett, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin, Betty White, Fankie Jonas, Noah Cyrys and Cloris Leachman all make the list. There is still no word of who's who, but the number of high profile names should be enough to get a few fans talking.

For me, it's the choice of women that raises an eyebrow. Tina Fey? Lily Tomlin? Betty M'n F'n White? Either this will be a brilliant undertaking or a glorious train wreck. Unfortunately we'll just have to sit tight until sometime in 2009 to find out. Just keep singing the theme song over and over to yourself until then.
