Ready for some great medical drama on TV? Well, besides House. Nebs brings us word that the SyFy Channel -- if I must call it that -- the Monster anime will be airing starting October 12th. Based on the manga by Japanator favorite Naoki Urasawa, it follows Dr. Tenma as he attempts to track down a psychopath he had once saved as a patient.
Interestingly, this marks Viz's debut on the SyFy Channel, which had mostly been featuring Bandai shows beforehand. Viz's previous television efforts for the adult crowd consisted of shows on Adult Swim -- most notably, Death Note.
Hopefully the turnout for Monster will be good, as the show ran for 74 episodes back in Japan, and I'm sure it'll need good ratings the first time around in order to justify airing all of them -- unless Viz is paying for the timeslot, of course. The DVDs are just starting to trickle out this year, and I'm sure the show is well worth watching, seeing as it's animated by Madhouse and all.
Any of you excited to get some medical drama on?
But, it's not enough to stop the drama, and the addiction the series generate.
PD: If you are in to this kind of mystery thrillers, and your reference is death note, you are gonna be surprised with the characters in monster, which are by far more interesting that the ones in death note.
