Unfortunately for folks hoping this post's headline would reveal a sudden and dramatic change in tone for the series, hopping from a world of magical ninjas into a gritty crime drama where Sasuke is some kind of serial killer who dismembers his victims and hides them in a meat locker under his basement, no such thing is happening.
Instead, the chopping up going on is of Sasuke, still a magical ninja, laying waste to a bunch of faceless samurai in what looks like Dynasty Wars-style of gameplay, rather than the dueling we typically associate with Ultimate Ninja Storm games. That's not a problem, though. In fact, it's a positive sign, since it looks like CyberConnect2 will be more willing to mix up the combat with the set pieces and boss battle sequences it decided to leave out of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. They did debut with this big trailer of the Third Hokage fighting the Nine-Tails, after all.
Also leaked in the same scan is some kind of feature that supposedly allows players to "change destiny", showing a choice that can be made during a cutscene of Sasuke and Naruto locked in combat. Choosing a red-colored option led to a scene between Sasuke and Naruto dating back to their first post-timeskip reunion (judging by the clothes), and choosing a blue-colored option led to post-timeskip Naruto speaking to...young Sasuke.
Weird. What could that be all about? Either way, it's only a few months until 2013, so we may not have long to wait to find out.
