Naruto Shippuden coming to Disney's XD channel, epic video included

Beginning in October, "for some reason whatsoever," Naruto Shippuden will begin airing on the Disney XD channel. If you haven't heard of XD, it's a basic cable channel that shows a mix of live-action and animated programming. The aim's a little younger, so the episodes of Shippuden will be dubbed.

Naruto doesn't seem like a very Disney-type show, but hats off to Viz for landing the deal. Kids are going to watch anything with the Disney name on it. I can already sense the Narutard population growing!

We've seen and heard a bit of drama from dedicated series fans on the deal between Viz and Disney. It seems that some are upset that the show will be edited. You're overreacting, people. We are enjoying your reaction videos, though.

People who think it won't edited are nuts. Sure there may be alot of episodes that don't need and won't getting editing but there are plenty that we probably be edited all to hell.

Personally I don't really care all that much as I'm not a rabid narutard but just saying that it will be edited to some extent the question is just how much.

It's not a Disney type show at all. It's gonna be edited to hell, for sure. They had to edit Naruto hard just to show it on Toonami. I don't think the Marvel move should change much, since Disney usually knows where to not stick their noses, but this could be horrible.
They never even aired the entire regular Naruto on CN, did they? How is this even going to work?

It's not really for the anime fans anyway, this is more for the kids. People watch it the way the want to watch it online, I don't see why this should upset anyone.

Also, the anime adaptation of Shippuden is pretty horrible anyway, at least animation and pacing-wise(with the exception of a few eps where they have other studios animate them).

I don't give much of a crap about edited dubs, to be quite honest. So long as I have the Internet I'll stick with fan subs.

I think this is a good thing. I know people always get upset over heavy editing but if you are a purist and you really want to watch the original you can find it.

It is good because it will introduce more people to anime and that is always a good thing. The industry has been struggling the past few years so a chance to indoctrinate some young impressionable minds is always good.

Anyways, as said above, I'm sure some of the edits will be funny.

@BGFUSAB: I think the point is not whether you're a purist or not. A lot of anime fans want to support licensed versions (like me) for the sake of that series' success, but if an anime is so heavily edited it barely resembles the original: 1- the potential fans will have the wrong idea about the series if it's heavily edited. 2- finding the original, if it is an older series, es easier said than done (if you are new into it).

I don't find it good that future fans won't experience the fully awesome experience because of censoring and editing. The only good thing about it is that with the internet some of those new fans will find out the truth.

-The stuffy nerd sinuses (I know all about that, obviously)

I despised the english dub of Naruto and what little hope that i had left that Shippuuden might have better dubs has been shattered. *sniff*

Disney is trying to get that young male demographic back. Hana Montana pretty much scared all the young guys away because they cant relate. I would expect to see more male oriented shows in the future. Especially now that they purchased Marvel which is a gold mine of characters males like

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Disney stop airing Power Ranger on their channels because it was "too violent?" I've never watched any Naruto episodes, but isn't this show horribly violent as well (if not more so?)

Fearing One Piece style edits is a bit much, really. Yes it's Disney, but at the end of the day, won't it be Viz who actually does the editing? I'm sure they might cut some things out, but it won't be as ridiculous as One Piece. And Naruto isn't THAT violent.
