Actually, it's not too hard to believe, given that Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations had all the hallmarks of a placeholder game. Pretty much the same battle system (with a few welcome tweaks), a bunch of reissued and tarted-up models from Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and 2, and none of the frankly incredible story mode or set-piece duels, what with all of Cyberconnect2's craziest people all devoted to developing Asura's Wrath.
Thankfully, though, it looks like the important folks are back on call for next year, with what may well be the ultimate Ultimate Ninja Storm game. Promising a deeper story and more refined combat, all the signs point to Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 covering Naruto into its conclusion. Masashi Kishimoto himself hinted that the core manga itself is in its final stretches, so it's not inconceivable that this game could take it all the way. And if the "deeper story" they promise means more of the craziness and QTEs of the Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 campaign (hell, maybe even of Asura's Wrath), next year could be great for Naruto-loving gamers.
