The power of Avex shows itself again. One of Japan's most formidable music labels has pulled some strings and is getting Tezuka Productions to work on an 18-minute-long Astro Boy segment to be packaged with ravex's debut album trax. The album launch is part of Avex's 20th anniversary, and also part of Tezuka's 80th birthday.
Taking place after the end of Astro Boy, our little protagonist is rescued by three of the band's members and taken to Space Jack (i.e. Black Jack), and he is renamed "Ratom." Not much more is said about the story, but I'm sure we'll find it online within the early weeks of May.
Now, I know that Tezuka Productions won't just go and make this a shameless attempt at getting some cash, but I still can't help but feel a little uneasy about this. I mean, I would think that Astro Boy would just be left alone for the rest of time, perhaps getting a transfer onto Blu-ray or something in a few years, but that's about it. How about y'all?
