Here's the video for the new single from electro pop group Perfume.
"PolyRhythm" sticks to the same formula of all their other recent singles. Namely, a melody driven mostly by the sharp and up front bass-line with twinkly synths floating around it and the highly processed vocals. I'm not sure if the chanted "pole-y-ri-zu-mu" build up just before the break down is horribly annoying or actually pretty cool, which means I'll probably love it after a few more listens. I do really like the soft, warbling electro bliss vibe, even if it is a rather shallow song overall. It feels more like a B-side or mid-album filler than a single.
I really enjoyed this song. I mean really, really. Soft, with a beat to it. Sweet.
God i dont really ever listen to Japanese pop as such - in fact currently im listening to a swedish metal band called meeshuggah who literally do play polyrythms in all their songs- now i have this song stuck in my head and it is actually rather awesome.
There is actually a "polyrythm" in the middle of the song - the aforementioned "horribly annoying"/"pretty cool" part is a very subtle polyrythm where the beat is reversed - blink and you'll miss it.
im converted. Might have to check out this site a bit more often : )
