While this is appearing a little late, the charts this week are none the less surprising. We've got a few new entries on the list, with series like Negima! and Soul Eater showing off their popularity in no surprising manner. What surprised me, though, is the entry of #10 on our list: Higurashi: When They Cry.

The New York Times originally listed it as "Vol. 2," but I presume that like Amazon, it has some trouble dealing with how the Higurashi volumes are titled, and really meant Vol. 6, the second part of the Curse Killing arc. I'm glad to see that the fanbase for this series has been growing and growing, enough to bring this title onto the list.

Remember, though, that the entry of Higurashi at #10 doesn't mean that it's at the forefront of every otaku's mind. To get into the #10 slot, they might have only sold 5,000 copies nationwide on the week of it's release. It's more than likely going to drop off in next week's chart, but at least it's making a bit of a splash amongst people. Be sure to check out the entire series if you can. It's much scarier than the anime.
