It is sad that we are losing another veteran that played an important role in the anime industry. The cause of his death is unknown, but he died at the age of 73. All that we know is that the death was confirmed by Haruka Takachiho the co-founder of Studio Nue.
Most of you know him for his work on the original Macross (Including Do You Remember Love?), Space Battleship Yamato, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, along with Megazone23. Ishiguro, you will not be forgotten; I hope that you enjoy your journey as you reach the far ends of the galaxy.
As a proper send off to Noboru, you can find the original Macross series on Hulu. Unfortunately the box set of the original (Not Robotech.) by ADV Films is out of print, so I wish the best of luck to anyone who finds it. You can buy the complete DVD box set for Megazone23 right here, if any of you are interested. Since he also worked on the 1980 version of Astro Boy, you can watch it on Viki. However, not all the episodes are subbed on the site.
My memories with the original Macross was phenomenal, and you have my thanks, Noboru Ishiguro. I hope that your skills as a director allow you to direct more amazing pieces for the people in the afterlife.
