Now that I'm back with a steady Internet connection, it's time to play catch-up with all of our news from the New York Anime Fest. First up is our lovely group of friends at Vertical!
As you know, we told you about their license for Peepo Choo, and the morning of their panel, Ed stopped me to say they had gotten several more licenses. Of course, I was without Internet and couldn't add that to my post. So, I bring the news to you now! The whole batch of their new titles:
-Chii's Sweet Home
-Needle
-Twin Spica
-Peepo Choo
So yes, every get excited because this finally means that the cute Japanese cat will be making its way to the US, come June 1st! The manga will be flipped so it reads left-to-right, and will be printed in full color. Vertical is also looking into getting merchandise, photobooks, and various other Chii's Sweet Home goods out into the market. So, it's Colette's wet dream.
Ed highlighted a bunch of their other titles from their upcoming line, and one that caught my attention was Flowers of Edo by Michael Kennedy -- their first OEL fiction work. It falls under the category of historical fiction, about the U.S. preparing to launch an invasion of the Japanese islands during WWII, with what seems to be the help of a Japanese soldier. It's got my alternate history senses tingling.
