Care to buy fourteen episodes of high-end anime?
How about buying seven episodes instead?
You might be surprised, but those two questions are inseparably intertwined, for the subject at hand is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, season two. Yes, that season. The Endless Eight season.
Bandai's released the details of Haruhi's upcoming North American release, and it's something of a doozy. Y'see, they're fully aware that most of you have seen the season in its entirety (all seven episodes), and they know (oh, do they know) that you will probably need a lot of convincing to drop some dollars (the currency, not the gang) on it.
Now, to the nitty-gritty. It's coming in a box set, with all fourteen (seven) episodes, with full dubs and subs, and front-loaded with a raft of extras, including CD singles of the OP and ED songs ("Tomare!" and "Super Driver"), "location scouting videos", a behind-the-scenes look at Aya Hirano's music video, and a "special event video".
Ooh, bells and whistles! And in a time of industry hardship! How much will we expect to pay for this goodness?
Sixty-five dollars. $64.98, to be accurate. For the Endless Eight season. About four-fifty per episode, or nine per "true" episode. There you go.
