Chan-wook Park's 2003 film Oldboy was an amazing movie to say the least. Dark Horse Comics has since published the original manga from Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi in North America from 2006 to 2007, and it even won an Eisner Award for Best U.S. Edition of International Material - Japan 2007. Now there is news that there could be a remake in the midst.
Director Steven Spielberg and fresh prince, Will Smith have been in talks about a possible collaboration to remake the film. Universal Pictures originally had the project, but it has now found a new home with Mandate Pictures. Variety reports that they are still looking for a writer for the film, and Steven has high hopes to have Will Smith play the main character.
What do you think? Isn't it a little soon to have a remake already?
