Unless you've been living under a rock for the past year, you should have known that Iron Man and Wolverine animes were in the works. However, just announced at the San Diego Comic-Con, some new details have surfaced. G4 has revealed that they will be the exclusive U.S. television home of four brand new anime series from Marvel. In addition to the two I already mentioned, X-Men and Blade anime series will also be added to the mix. All four franchises will air as standalone series made up of twelve 30-minute episodes. Madhouse Studios, who have worked on such films as Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and Trigun, will head development.

I don't know about you, but Olivia Munn won't be the only reason I'm drooling while watching G4 anymore. The anime series are scheduled to premiere on the network in 2011. Hit the jump for a synopsis on each show and some pretty sweet footage from the new Iron Man teaser that was just released.

Iron Man - In an effort to make amends for his weapons manufacturing past, Tony Stark has dedicated himself to building the world up rather than tearing it down. Traveling to Japan to build a new arc reactor that will deliver unlimited free energy to the Japanese people, Stark is challenged by the Japanese government and the media when he attempts to import the necessary nuclear priming device. And when the reactor-in-construction is repearedly attacked by the mysterious Zodiac consortium, Stark must gather his allies to take on Zodiac and its mastermind.



X-Men - They are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki. There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.

Wolverine - The series begins in Japan, where Logan is challenged by Shingen Yashida, the nleader of a powerful mafia clan. When Shingen's employee Yukio, a female assassin, falls out of Shingen's favor, she must kill him or be killed. Teaming up with Logan, the pair seek out the villian to exact their revenge.


Blade - Seeking revenge on Deacon Frost, Blades' journey leads him to Japan.

Honestly I don't know how to feel about the anime on G4 thing. I am not particularly looking forward to these shows but on the other hand if they do well enough it will do alot to get anime into the mainstream. There is also the chance if they do well on the channel that they may try and get other shows. I guess time will tell.

Also, I'm only REALLY interested in the Iron Man and X-men series right now, but the Blade series might be good...
I couldn't care less about a Wolverine series...

Also (x2) I hope they continue to run anime AFTER these series have their initial runs, Tech TV used to share a nice amount of anime before G4 bought them out...Let's hope they run more anime and less COPS!!

Sorry, but am I the only one that was NOT impressed with this new trailer? After seeing how awesome the Iron Man anime trailer from last year was in comparison to this one, I don't think I'm going to be crying over not having G4...

I remember them showing Cromartie High School and Abenobashi Shopping Arcade and Last Exile but that is about it.

Those shows look...okay, I may have a reason to watch g4 again atleast to check em out.

^They showed awesome as hell anime. I remember first seeing Boogiepop Phantom and Serial Experiments: Lain. Gatekeepers 21 was great, too.

Then, they showed Magical Shopping Arcade, Geneshaft, Crest/Banner of the Stars, Cromartie, Last Exile - now that I think about it they showed the best series out at the time - for me, at least.

As for the Iron Man anime, I really don't like that style. Maybe that's just me. A Blade anime sounds like it could balls-on-walls, though. Give Hellsing a run for it's money!

I wasn't very impressed by this trailer.

NOR am I impressed by Olivia Munn on the Daily Show. She isn't funny, which makes me think that those who think she is drool worthy is the reason she's there. /hate

I actually feel sad not having G4TV on my tv after reading these announcements. Plus if these shows do well then hopefully it will lead to a better variety of shows on that damn channel.

Maybe it's because I read as much "Western comics" as I do manga, but I'm really pumped for this. I agree that the CG could look better, but I'm hoping it's just because it's not the final product. I wish the style was a little more blended though.

Meh.

This doesn't look all that great. Also as for more anime, I just don't see them spending the money for licensing it. Also the last thing I want to watch is dubbed anime that censored all to hell. I hope the whole thing fails.

Olivia Munn might be okay to look at if she'd stop staring at teleprompters with a deer-in-the-headlights look while failing miserably to read said teleprompter. ("Today on Ah... um, dumbp buh Atta.. err.. umm uhh... of the g..." is not hot on anyone.) And even then, i did say "might".

Also, what's with G4 advertising shows months in advance. Not just a little, but EVERY. SINGLE. COMMERCIAL. BREAK?

That said, i don't know how good these will be, but at least they look more entertaining than Munn.

Anime versions of these franchises is cool and all, but do they really all have to take place in japan? Are they taking place in Japan just because its anime?
