Over the weekend, FUNi was going to have the simulcast of episode 403 of One Piece. Keyword there being was. As it turns out, someone went ahead and leaked the video out to the Internet, causing FUNi to pull their One Piece episodes from their streaming service, as well as the episodes of FMA: Brotherhood.
So, here's a chunk of FUNi's statement on the whole thing:
Unfortunately, we have determined that the FUNimation servers were compromised, even though we employ strict security standards...We will make every effort to locate and prosecute the perpetrator(s) to the fullest extent of the law and will provide updates regarding this most serious matter.
Now, an interesting little bit from srsfkn.biz says that FUNi's protection on their servers were minimal, Files were uploaded a while before their live date, and the .flv files were accessible if you went to a direct link of them -- and thus could download it early and leak it to the Internet. It's worth a read, although it's very harsh against FUNi -- something I'm not sure they want to see floating about the 'net.
How many of you were looking forward to the One Piece simulcast?
I wasn't looking forward to this because I don't care for One Piece.
