Even in Japan, fans love Amazon because it just leaked the cover to January 2010 issue of IKKI magazine, which says that House of Five Leaves is to be animated. While we're not 100% confirmed on this, the odds are good that this samurai-era, character-driven story is on its way to the tube. A proper announcement is likely to follow with the street date of the magazine.
You can already read the first few chapters of Natsume Ono's House of Five Leaves in English on IKKI's site. Like Ono's prior manga that was adopted for animation, Ristorante Paradiso, House of Five Leaves anime will be airing on Fuji TV's animation blocks oriented to mainstream/shoujo/josei audience. House of Five Leaves will air on, noitaminA, which also aired shoujo/josei and mainstream favorites like Honey & Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Hakaba Kitarou, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, and Eden of the East. Ristorante Paradiso aired on Fuji's Noise programming block.
Can we play "guess the license" game now already?
Also, I'd love it if Viz licensed this, just so that they start expanding in the anime market.
