Otaku Debate: Hirasawa Yui vs. Sorami Kanata

Otaku Debate: Hirasawa Yui vs. Sorami Kanata photo

Since we had a fairly unconventional Otaku Debate last week (with no clear winner), I figured we'd get back to the basics this week with a good old-fashioned character battle. However, this is no ordinary battle... it's an all-out deathmatch between the two greatest moeblobs ever to grace our lonely hikikomori lives: Hirasawa Yui of K-On! and Sorami Kanata of So Ra No Wo To.

These two are so similar that some have claimed they're virtually the same character. Of course, any TRUE otaku can see there are TONS of differences between them; for starters, Yui plays the guitar whereas Kanata plays the trumpet. Also, their hairstyles are slightly different. Also, there is.... um... uh....

Anyway!  It's up to you, dear readers, to decide which one of these moeblobs is the greatest. Let the debate begin!

I haven't watched K-On, whereas I am watching SoRaNoWoTo.

I vote Kanata, because she has guns.
Excuse me, Jon, but I believe you made a mistake: You put two pictures of the same character up...please fix this error whenever you have time. Thank you.
Crap, forgot to mention GTO in last week's debate. Ah well, as for this one...you sure they're not the same? Usually, I'd go with Kanata because SoRaNoWoTo actually had some depth to it, but since this is asking who is the MOST moe, I'll say Yui, because she's moe to the point that it hurts.
In terms of most Moeblobby, I'm pointing to Yui. Kanata may be klutzy, overzealous, and inexperienced, but Yui is just kinda... vacuous to put it sorta nicely. Kanata seems to have potential to be greater, Yui not so much.

All that said,
Kanata is greater because she's in a better quality show. Come 'on, you can tell which show is better just by looking at the above picture.
For once, I'm glad I don't know enough to take part in a debate.
Putting my dislike for K-ON aside, I do believe I like Kanata better because she has a much more likable charm to her. I do admit that I'm getting kind of sick of the 'genki' character type.
Yui, on the other hand, is like the dumb melt we all know that does nothing hangs around and smokes pot, and speaks in facepalm-worthy phrases. She's straight up dumb, and not even a funny dumb either...
GAAAAAAAHHHH CANT CHOOSE
THIS MAKES MY BRAIN HURT
That's a tough one. Kanata carries the moe weight in her show, as Rio and Felicia end up with reveals that definitely decrease their moe-quotient. So the moe seems more concentrated in her. However, K-On spent a LOT more time on teas and cakes and doing girly things. Even the music was stuff like Fluffy Time. So I think that while Kanata had the majority of the moe force from her show, Yui's show has so much more to go around that she still ends up trumping her.

I'm going Yui.
i have no idea, i'd have to go with whoever the left one is from i've seen more fanservice of her >> *has no idea about the show other then they sing and super moe*
I say Yui because K-On! is 100% awesome sauce :) Not to mention she knows Mio and Mio is awesome so by association Yui is awesome.
Yui. It's Fuwa Fuwa Time.
I GOTAAAAAAA PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

And because of that horrible episode, I've gotta go with Yui.
Yui because she's got Ui for a backup. Always good to have a spare.
well.... i like yui better but mio is still the best XD because k-on has a lucky star-ish story and is more straight forward
I'd tip the moeblob scale towards Yui. Kanata just seemed like a normal girl in my opinion.
Kanata all the way, but mostly because i really liked the show, and Im kinda sad to see it end... *tear*
I'll take a diligent moeblob star over a slothful ignorant one any day. Kanata ftw!
I vote Bruce Ironstaunch.

@ pollardy
Fanservice? Is that what they call it now?
Since this is the battle of the moe and I don't care for either show, I vote for Brad Rice. He is the most moe character on Japanator.
Yui. I have a thing for girls with guitars... =/
From a moeblob perspective I like Yui better but from a character perspective I prefer Kanata. If we also take into account that I finished So Ra No Wo To and not K-On! the clear winner is Kanata.
OOH GEETAHFLY.

Yui, if only because I was able to finish K-On.
see why can't I have a third option, what about azu-nyaa, she holds her own with the others, why must it be one or the other, black or white, right or left, can't we look into the grey area once and awhile.........
This is easy, Yui. Thats because she doesn't have to announce that she has pee. Thats always attractive. Also, She knows Mio. Thats ways a great Plan B.

kindaaloser makes a good point in saying that you put the same picture up. Seriously though, they are like the same person. It's like comparing an apple to the same apple. Nom nom nom. Apples.
I vote Yui for her superior bladder control as well.
Yui. I like Kanata, but Yui is goofier and spacier, therefore more adorable.
untan = awesome
Jesus Christ which one do I hate less. =/

I too vote Bruce Ironstaunch. He's the fucking man.
My vote goes to Yui for being the most moe moeblob, but, if you think about it, who's the real winner then?
ahhhh, girls with guns or with guitars..... i cant cant vote one over the other..
Yui because she is closer to Ritsu than Kanata.
Kanata cuz her voice is better..and she's friends with a girl voiced by Eri Kitamura
...... Yui's the most moe. Kanata has guns. XD
I'm going with Yui.
Kanata has skill lol

Yui got all of her talent magically.

so kanata
I vote Yui because she's into siscon.

Also, love her hairstyle more.
Sorami Kanata. She actually DOES stuff in her show. Plus for some bizarre reason that I never did figure out entirely, I just always found her far less annoying.... idk why really.
Who's the greatest? Kanata. Who's the greatest in terms of being the moeblobbiest? Yui.
Kanata is a genuine, easygoing girl with a history and potential. She's hardly a moeblob. Closest thing she probably ever did was getting lost in episode one and that scene was simply beautiful as well as touching with the artwork and music. Or when she wore that short dress with her nice legs.
Yui is klutzy, forgetful, airheaded, and shameless. Totally lovable, of course; I personally adored K-ON!.

That is my analysis. Mhm..
Yui is infinity times more amazing and adorable, and the fact that you would compare her to anyone fills me with a rage I have not felt since I heard the Animax dub of K-on and nearly punched a whole in the space-time continuum.
*hole

wtf king get your grammar in gear
If it was a battle who was the better moe character Hirasawa Yui would win no doubt, but I rather have Kanata win . Why you may ask she is well more rounded that Yui and the moe is much less. Kanata is slightly klutzy but Yui is just a bombardment of MOEEEEEEEEEEEE MOE MOE MOE MOE MOE ! Anyhow..........Kanata better overall character
Yui.
Yui

MOE OVERLOAD
I hate them both equally.
Can't stand either of them.
Yui, no contest.
;)
Yui is more moe. Therefore Kanata is better.
