Ouch, that's rough: Ending for Dream C Club is depressingly realistic

Ouch, that's rough: Ending for Dream C Club is depressingly realistic photo

It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that people usually play eroge and bishoujo games to see some absurd romantic fantasy situation realized. D3 Publisher's Xbox 360 title Dream C Club indulges the fantasy of courting a cute hostess.

In reality, a hostess is a person whose job is to make you feel that way, stringing you along while you lavish gifts and booze upon them in pursuit of a faint hope of catching her heart.

Thus, it's quite surprising to see that ugly truth raise its realistic head while you play a game ostensibly designed to deny its very existence. That is the unfortunate, depressing situation in the case of young Amane, the shy, reserved member of the Dream C Club hostess cast. After working countless menial jobs during the week and spending incalculable sums of money on her, posters on 2ch found out that the lady ups and punches you straight in the Friend Zone at the end of the game, going off to marry her damn boyfriend.

As if to add insult to injury, finishing Amane's storyline adds 10 measly gamerscore points to your total, unlocking the "DREAM IS OVER"  achievement. I'm not kidding, that's what it's called.

Geez, at least in The Idolm@ster you were the girls' manager. Here you're just some poor schlub who got bilked by a professional.

That, friends, is why you court Aria, the android character. Or Mari, the zombie character. If you check the gallery, you'll see the two on the extreme left and right of the cast lineup. You can also hit the jump for a video of Amane singing and dancing. Not that it matters, because she's taken.
