Japan's premier gaming rag Famitsu has gone and put up a walkthrough for several missions from the game's massive new demo, showing off some of the game's key features, including turning a giant chainsaw sword into a giant gun, then into a giant animal with a crazy mouth, and consuming gods.
The demo was open for ad hoc multiplayer play, and included various tutorials showing players how to eat out a divinity...wait, that doesn't sound right. The demo also showed off several new monster types, aside from that MegaTen-looking lion from earlier trailers, some which attacked in packs and others who could fly. Team players could also help out fallen comrades through the "Link Aid" system.
Overall, the action seemed to move at a faster, more high-flying pace than Monster Hunter's slower, more deliberate style, and the belts-and-zippers fashion style contrasted well to Capcom's I-am-wearing-a-lizard character schema. The prominent story also showed through, and the game's multimedia blitz, including several manga adaptations (which you can read if you know where to look) and some sweet-looking animation are laying down some strong foundations.
You can see some more of God Eater's drama by checking out the videos below (both featuring Atsuko Tanaka's sexy voicework), or looking at the images we've shamelessly ripped off from Famitsu in the gallery.
