Remember when we (and the Japan Blu-ray Association) asked you what you wanted to see on Blu-ray? It seems that otaku have gone a tad off-list in their enthusiasm, running the first volume of K-On! nearly to the top of the charts, selling 33,000 copies in just a week. Even Batman (namely the Dark Knight film) was powerless to stop the moe monster ("moenster" if you will).
It took Third Impact to stop the girl band in its tracks, as only the Blu-ray release of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone kept K-On! off the apex. And even then, you only need to buy one copy of Evangelion, where you might have to buy at least four discs to complete the TV series.
People really seemed to want their "Moe moe kyu~n" in HD, as there were three times as many Blu-ray sales as DVD sales in that week. Perhaps the Blu-ray Association is right in asking otaku exactly what they'll pay big money for.
