Perform some kick-ass tricks on your new Evangelion bike! photo

When I was in Japan, all the cool kids were practicing their extreme bicycle tricks at the train stations late at night -- as though it were 1997 all over again. So, now those cool kids can be even cooler with these official Neon Genesis Evangelion bicycles.

Designed by character designer Sadamoto Yoshiyuki, Media Magic will be releasing two bikes: EVA00BIKE type-r and type-a (Asuka and Rei, naturally). Of course, Shinji gets shafted, even though everyone rides him like the town bicycle already. Be sure to save up your money, by the way, since these bikes are going to set you back 98,280 yen (over $1000).

To be honest, if I lived in a major metropolitan area and had to bike around all the time, I'd pick myself up one of the bikes. It's "new fashion" enough to look cool, and as long as I could get replacement tires in those same colors, I'd be set. Don't you agree?

Check out more shots of the bike down in the gallery, and see for yourself just how awesome it is.

Legacy Comments

Seems really uncomfortable.
LOL. Clown bikes.
I want a Misato bike.
I love the anime. But I just can't picture myself riding one of these in broad daylight.
Of course there's no Shinji bike. They'd have to install a sissy bar if they did.
I would really like one of these, but riding a fixed gear in Seattle is ridiculous. Even if it is trendy right now.
@lyfeforce In other words, training wheels?
@Brad Yes. Those, and streamers.
Would have been a little more sensible to model them after the EVAs rather than the pilots, I think. I'd be a lot more comfortable riding around a bike with "Unit 02" plastered on it than "Asuka".
They better come with some awesome ass helmets
They'll sell about as well as those Rei guitars.
