Welcome to Kyoto Animation's newest animed show, K-on!

You can listen to the mini-cast here (6:34), and/or hit the jump for the synopsis.

Synopsis: High school is hard and choosing a club is serious business. Trouble being, the light music club is just below the bare minimum membership levels needed. Beggers can't be choosers, so our less than "adequate" main character Yui gets to be the guitarist, standards be damned.

OP/ED is awesome, but it's not even light music, so you can't really say for sure the music they'll be playing won't be any good.

I liked the show but I agree that Yui is retarded(but Moe). Mio is hot and I really like the ED. I'll probably watch the show until the end.

How can you say the ED was generic D: Although perfectly honest, the animation in the ED left me feeling pretty damn limp...a nice attempt, but could have turned out better.

The OP has alot of energy to it though.

I was only commenting the music, not the animation or anything. but of course i was being more critical of it since it is a "music" show.

Ah music anime... when will you become marketable enough for the U.S. I guess when the fans want to put the cash down, it'll happen.

I didn't really like Yui. I just don't like her character. Hopefully the series will redeem itself and who knows, maybe I'll grow to like her.

@John - Yeah, considering it is a music show, you would think that the music would be more dynamic and inspired, but personally I think if they animated the ED in the same respects as the OP (with the whole vibrancy in the playing of instruments parts) it would have been a winner.

Maybe I dig that kind of music more so than you, or if the opposite, I may just have lower standards, but my only complaint in the OP or the ED is that the ED wasn't very well animated.

As a man who doesn't usually watch an anime without some kind of violence in it, this show is pretty swell.

@Len - If it's any consolation, the show did a number to my heart's icy shell, revealing the warm gooey center that only a really high dose of moe can bring out.

I loved the first episode, and I'm sure I'm going to love the rest of them. Yui is my new waifu.

The mentally challenged main characters were what made me absolutely hate Clannad, but I like K-ON! so far. Probably because it's only one character and it's not a drama.

@Heero - Nah, not quite as bad as that. That moment you speak of completely crushed the icy shell of my heart, made slurpies out of it, and distributed it among starving Ethiopians.

@Kageryu: Hmmm... guess it had different effects for everyone. That part made me laugh my ass off so hard I fell out of my chair as well as want to pet her on the head. The only thing that's ever really turned my heart to goo to the level you mentioned was a combination of the "under one condition" option when talking to Lancer in UBW and the scene in the cemetery after Archer's betrayal.

just watched it....its ok for me...worth watching a few more to see where it goes. i usually don't like charas like yui but as the show actually takes the mick out of her tennenbokke nature, it could show promise.
