A-Kon '08: Anime HellThis con staple took place a tiny bit late, which is not notable at itself in a huge, busy Friday-night con environment; what stuck out here was that several key volunteers and/or Anime Hell guys seemed to be sick or otherwise absent, and everyone did a fantastic job of coming back with things hooked up and ready to go for the huge line waiting outside. Only 100 folks at a time could fit into the room, but there was another AH scheduled for Saturday night, which was pretty wise on their part. As their site explains, Anime Hell is simply a big ol' spectacle of weird, funny and/or nostalgic clips, such as the perv-magnet twins in the friendly film above, which needn't necessarily be anime nor hellish. Raunchy commentary and occasional ninja contests are also to be expected at any such event, including a couple of heart-warming moments I'd seen before, and one that I hadn't and thus brought me to tears of laughter and the need to stagger back to our room for a round of drinking with the Anime Matsuri people. Hit the jump for weird and/or NSFW trips into the unknown, including one not intended for people who're easily grossed out. ...Whatever the hell this was called.
The name says it all, really. Yeah, I LOLed. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Okay, the first ones were okay, but that last one was hilarious.....what the hell was going on at the end!? It was great! Ah, Hell. One time during midnight madness in the showing of Fanboy Bebop I turned on lights during the fake credits roll to fake people out. Their reaction was akin to finding someone defecating on your pets.
So yes, fan parodies are serious business and stay on their good side. 4:00 PM on 06.27.2009 As God intended: TENGA cosplay sightedIn the greatest cosplay development since a man wore a cardboard box with "Gundam" written on the front, an A-kon attendee was seen cosplaying as a TENGA onacup. His costume was surprisingly accurate, replicating th...
11:05 PM on 06.08.2009 Don't count Bandai out of this con season just yetAs you may have noticed, Bandai was noticably absent from every con so far this year, including North America's longest running anime convention, Project A-kon. However, in a recent e-mail exchan...

5:00 PM on 06.02.2009 A-Kon '09: So.. there was cosplay, at least. It was a pretty sad sight, at least I'd like to say that because honestly, there wasn't much to see. For what is the longest running Anime convention in the US, you'd expect there to be major announcements, numerous guests, a...
