Total BFFs Takashi Murakami (artist, designer and media darling) and Kanye West (rapper, phat beat layer downer and friend of Japanator) are at it again. After teaming up to release a line of bling, the duo have come together once again to collaborate on a new West video.
"Good Morning" (seen above until the powers that be remove it, because who wants to actually see a video, amirght?) follows the trials and tribulations of the Kanye bear guy as he makes his way to a graduation ceremony. On the way to getting his "Bachelor of Hip-Hop Music" degree, he zips his way through Murakami's technicolor world full of dancing mushrooms and crazy football teams.
Personally, I find the CG animation a bit of a turn off, but then again, the really crappy YouTube quality probably hides the true Murakami majesty. I'm sure a Blu-Ray disc copy that found its way to my house would get a much more awesome review.
[UPDATE: Changed the video and added some screenshots]
love kanye, love murakami, love akira, check out the "kanye west-graduation amv's on Vimeo.com , awesome videos set to Tron, oldboy, akira, 2046 and so forth
Actually, I was disappointed in Murakami's part, but pleasantly surprised by Kenye West's part.
I'm totally grossed out that the louver shades are coming back, but I bet most of you guys weren't even born in the '80s, let alone remember that kind of crap. God, I feel old…
I thought it was pretty dope! At least from a marketing standpoint. If you notice the video is based on the entire cd jacket. So subliminally ( if I even spelled that right) Ye had us prime from the start. Murakami is just killing ish right now, what a great duo. Like you, when I saw the video I immediately linked it as a post on our site.
Certainly a cute video, but eh on the Kanye West.
I appreciate this appreciation for Daft Punk and cool animation, but I'm not a huge fan of his music.
Here's what I know about Flipboitamidles: His name is damn hard to type, and he makes awesome mash-ups. That's it, but that's all you really need to know, I think. His work speaks for itself. He (they?) has done a ton of work,...
Move over Kanye West, for another otaku has planted their flag in Draft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”; and his name is Jubjub2. Jubjub made this video because he was inspired by a youtube video...
If our world was about to end, and the only safe haven for survival could fit a 100 people, then guess who just made the survivor list? Well, if it were up to TIME then Takashi Murakami would be one happy camper. He made TIME...
We all know that Kanye West and Takashi Murakami are close. Well, that relationship is paying off to all of us fans of Murakami's work. Kanye has posted a set of images over on his blog of some of Murakami's work that...
