First name: WithheldPersonally, I love the idea of a live-action Cowboy Bebop. Even a live-action Ghost In The Shell. I think it'd be really cool.
Whether or not I believe Hollywood can actually make a GOOD live-action adaptation of these franchises is a whole different story.
I'll likely be watching it anyways since I'm a big Masamune Shirow fan, but the visuals look like a step down from the first two appleseed CGI projects. Disapointing.
hehe Always like bloopers, even though these start out kinda slow.
I actually prefer english dubs myself, mainly because I like to let my eyes wander around the screen to take in the visuals when I watch something, instead of being fixated on the bottom of it the entire way through. I'm currently watching Katanagatari and it irritates the fuck outta me that there's so much dialogue I can't take more than a few moments per episode to take in that beautiful artwork.
Though I'll admit many english dubs don't match up to the japanese ones, I've found most are pretty much on par. In some cases, the english is actually better than the japanese (Black Lagoon and Baccano, for example). And I find the Duararara dubs to be pretty fitting for their characters overall.
So, yeah. I don't get the dub haters.
I love those movies, but 57$ each for Blu-Rays, some of which don't even go beyond 45 minutes in length, is a total rip-off.
I actually think this ad hits the nail on the head. As much as I used to love JRPGs, they haven't evolved much in the last decade, aside from a few exceptions.
As much as I like Misaka, Railgun just plain sucked. More Index makes me happy.
"So that it becomes more of a film for a mainstream audience."
Translation: "dumb it down, and take out everything that makes it unique and interesting".
Do. Not. Want.
While I have faith in this Kalogridis person, I don't have any faith in Hollywood. I suspect the movie will be rewritten and reworked until it's pretty much exactly as Slust described, except the characters will have different (american) names and backstories. And it'll be set in New York (filmed in Vancouver).
Pure Brilliance.
Hmmm Interesting yet again. Lots of shows on this one that I've considered, but haven't gotten around to watching. And *GASP* a few of my faves still haven't shown up yet.
Excellent choices. No complaints this time around. Especially glad to see Xam'd and Eden of The East making it. Those are two of my fav animes in recent years.
Interesting to see GitS 2 on it, though, since I thought it was pretty weak narratively (or maybe I was just too dumb to follow the plot :/ ). I'm currently rewatching SAC (for the 3rd time =P), and I'm certain it'll make it onto this list, though I wonder at what rank.
Also eagerly anticipating 5cm Per Second's ranking, or any of Shikai's films for that matter.
Interesting list, and a nice way to learn about new shows I haven't yet considered.
That said, while I'm happy to see a lot of my favorite shows on this list, I'm surprised to find a number of them at the bottom 20. And seriously, Moyashimon out-ranking Mushishi? Now that's a crime :/
Agree with Reibooi. Unless they get a no-name actor who could surprise everyone and somehow pull it off, but I doubt it.
That's pretty much what I've always assumed as well. I read somewhere that something like 80% of people's emotions show up in their eyes, so in manga/anime they make the eyes bigger so it's easier to illustrate all the subtle (and not so subtle) differences in emotion.
