I have to admit that this is the first cover I've come across in recent memory that actually looks worse than it's American counterpart, but we need to take what we can get. What you see above is the Japanese box art for the recent PS3 title, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
I suppose you have to do what you can to make a western game seem appealing to a Japanese audience, but you'd think they'd at least try to make it look a bit more attractive. The art doesn't really do much to convey any aspects of the gameplay aside from letting you know that your main character might be witty, and that he's accompanied by an old white guy and a woman who, at least, by the looks of it, isn't very attractive. Oh, and they decided to throw in a terrorist and a train.
On the bright side, I'm sure the game is selling pretty well in Japan. The art isn't quite as bad as say... the American box art for Ico, but I still can't help thinking that better box art might have actually moved a few more copies over there. As for us? It's nice to know that we had better art this time around, but it won't be long before another piece of box art is ruined for the sake of appealing to the western market. It's inevitable.
