Quentin Tarantino takes on Softbank and Otousan

3:30 PM on 11.11.2009

Of all people to join the Softbank family as that "crazy uncle," I did not expect Quentin Tarantino to be that man. While I'm not a huge fan of the man's works, I was really impressed with Inglorious Basterds and am excited to see just how these commercials will look when they air on TV.

Softbank has a history of using foreigners in their ads, both as directors and actors. So, it's no huge surprise to see Tara-chan (yes, that's his name in the family) join the ranks. I can only hope that we'll see Otousan make an appearance in one of Tarantino's later films thanks to these commercials.

Well, if you're wondering how it might look, check out a video of Tarantino hamming it up during a rehearsal for one of the commercials that was shown at a promo event. I'm rather giddy for this.

Quentin may well be one of the biggest and best geeks living. He's like a walking encyclopedia of planetary geek culture. This is fantastic. I can't wait to see the final spots.
