I know, it's a Friday night and you're either out on the town or sticking around, glued to our coverage of the New York Anime Fest. Well, while you're waiting, why not take a little breather with some highly recommended reading. Whether you're interested in politics or smut, we've got you covered.
The first piece comes from the Graphic Novel review, where their article "Yaoi For Parents, A Crash Course in Boys' Love" details the history of yaoi manga and how it evolved out of shoujo. It's a fascinating piece that really caught my interest because I was never too clear on how things got from the more conservative titles appearing in Margaret to this. I have yet to get to read part two or three, which tackle yaoi culture, but I'm sure they'll be fantastic reads.
The other article comes from the Financial Times, where they recently got to sit down with DPJ mastermind Ichiro Ozawa and pick the brains of the current Foreign Minister on how this new administration is going to change its alliance with the US. While it's not a topic that all of you would necessarily jump on, I believe it's important to have an idea of how two world superpowers are going to update their relationship after more than 50 years in unquestioned roles.
Is there anything out there that I should be reading?
