Yes, Akazukin Chacha is back! And, depending on how - or where - you spent your anime-watching childhood (particularly Southeast Asia), that can be cause to rejoice indeed. For me, Akazukin Chacha calls up fond memories of the mid-nineties, and summers at home spent watching "Japanimation" and wondering why, if Chacha could turn from a pre-teen monster with a perpetual ":D" plastered on her face into a properly-proportioned adult Magical Princess to rival the likes of Sailor Moon, she did not stay that way all the time. She could, like, buy alcohol or drive and stuff. Ah, those were the days.
Where was I? Oh, right, the new Akazukin Chacha thing is a manga sequel called Akazukin Chacha N, and is set to start in July. No plans for an anime yet, but you can get yourself a taste of what I watched so many years ago below.*
*Yes, I was watching kiddy magical girl anime at age 12. Shut up!
