Rejoice? New Super Robot Wars title on the way!

Rejoice? New Super Robot Wars title on the way! photo

Oh, look at that. Another new Super Robot Wars game for the PSP! This time around, Namco Bandai is returning to the series' roots with a sequel to the 1996 SNES game Masou Kishin Lord of the Elemental. Today they released the first trailer for the game, Revelation of Evil God II, due out in Japan on January 12. Now might be the time for SRW fans to rejoice, but given the track record of the series in the west (basically none), it might be a bit preemptive for that kind of thing.

Or at least that's what I might say if I'd given up all hope of ever seeing this series in English again. This time though, I'd actually argue that this is the series' best chance to skip across the big pond. "But Elliot, that's madness!" Is it though? It just so happens that the predecessor to Revelation of Evil God II is being ported over to the PSP, and even sold in a two pack with the sequel!

It certainly helps that this is an Original Generation game. If there was ever a great jumping point for the franchise, these two games would be it. With the Playstation Vita approaching, I would love to see a localization company take a stab at SRW, even if it's only a digital copy. Hell, stranger things have certainly happened in the past year.

Hot blooded trailer after the break!
