Remember Voltron? Classic giant robot, the one with lines, later with cars? I do. Growing up in the Philippines I was a little too young to get on the Voltes V bandwagon, but was right on time to catch Voltron and lion-combining glory.
Now, one of the men responsible for that part of my childhood, a certain Peter Keefe, has passed on at the age of 57, due to throat cancer. He will be missed.
In case you yourself were too young to catch the Voltron vibe, the show is available for viewing for free here, alongside Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, another show Keefe produced. Take in a couple of episodes and feel the legacy.
That show on the EARLY Toonami (R.I.P. Toonami) is one of the shows that got me to love anime as much as I do. It played a huge part of my childhood, as I remember having the Lance and Pidge parts of the whole figure, as well as the whole figure that was battery operated.
What a great show back in the day..(and I'm only 20.)
