Results from the 2010 Pokemon World Championship photo

We have the results from last weekend's Pokémon World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. It still blows my mind that there are reportedly tens of thousands of players who vie for the invitation to attend this event as a competitor, but with everything from scholarships to vacations and custom DSi XLs as potential prizes, it comes as no surprise. Next year, the championships will be held in San Diego, California, where we hope to be able to provide some live coverage.

The majority of the winners were split between the US and Japan, with the exception of Canada's Jacob Lesage, who managed to take the TCG Senior Division. For a full list of the results, along with some footage, hit the jump.

since you're talking pokemon world results, I'll talk about the YUGIOH World Championship held at Long Beach California the same weekend.

world champion: Galileo De Obaldia from Panama
Second Place: Vincent Paglia from United States

I used to play Poke'mon TCG a lot until they decide to make my Ruby Sapphire cards totally become useless crap when compared to DP cards. It's been like that every generation.

It's been almost 10 years since I played. My brothers and I as well as several of their friends would go to a local comic/card shop and play in the weekly tournaments. It was like $2 to enter, so my brother would pay our entry fees and make our decks and in return, we'd give him all the cards we'd win. The other kids totally hated us because we'd completely take all the prizes which usually included several booster packs as well as some of those small Pokemon figures that were popular back then. My son now collects the cards, but he doesn't really play. I used to love playing, especially against this one kid who would cry every time you'd knock out one of his pokemon. He was like 13, but he'd cry, especially since my brother would say "for the kill" instead of knock out.
