Rock the charts: Japan's box office numbers 1/30 - 2/05 photo

Once again, it's time to rock these charts and figure out what's hot in Japanese theatres. Avatar just got knocked out of the #1 slot here in the US, but in Japan it looks like it's holding strong, and will be for a long time to come. So, between now and then, expect it to be rocking the charts like mad.

1. Avatar. 6th week, pulling in $6.85 million.
2. Oceans. 2nd week, pulling in $3.48 million.
3. Younger Brother. 1st week, pulling $2.61 million.
4. Golden Slumber. 1st week, pulling in $2.17 million.
5. Samurai Sentai Shinkenger vs. Go-onger Ginmaku Bang!. 1st week, pulling in $1.66 million.
6. The Lovely Bones. 1st week, pulling in $1.52 million.
7. Paranormal Activity. 1st week, pulling in $1.14 million.
8. Sayonara Itsuka. 2nd week, pulling in $1.10 million.
9.
Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. 2nd week, pulling in $910k.
10. Surrogates. 2nd week, pulling in $799k.

Not much surprise in what's going on here, although I wonder if those Japanese films that debuted this week will show any of the staying power of the Hollywood films on the charts. We'll have to see. In the meantime, what have you been watching in theatres, readers?
