Rock the Vote in About's top manga of the year awards photo

The ever-awesome Deb Aoki has put together a totally comprehensive manga award system for this year, and would like all of you lovely Japanator readers to partake in the polls and cast your votes.

Well, I can't exactly refuse her request, so after the jump you'll find all the different polls available, along with some suggestions from yours truly as to which titles I heartily recommend.

Best New Shoujo series: I suggest voting for High School Debut. The title falls into my obsession with tomboy characters, and thankfully the plot doesn't fall into all the pitfalls of typical shoujo plotlines. Instead, it makes itself a worthwhile read.

Best New Shonen manga: I suggest voting for Higurashi: When They Cry. The Haruhi manga isn't as exciting as I had hoped it'd be, but in its stead, Higurashi had me transfixed with its mix of cute and horror, making me wonder what was going to happen at every page turn. I'm definitely picking up the anime because of this, too.

Best New Seinen manga: I suggest voting for Black Lagoon. This series is a page-turner in terms of its comedy and action, and it's pure enjoyment. Also, Balalaika will kill my family if you don't vote for it.

Best New Josei manga: I suggest voting for Maka-Maka. While it hops into the loving rather quickly, the title takes a down-to-earth and realistic look at these two women who find something special with each other after they've become frustrated with the unsatisfactory relationships they've been having.

Best classic or reissued manga: I suggest voting for Black Jack. Osamu Tezuka's work is just brilliant. If you're not sure why, read our review.

Best OEL manga: I suggest voting for Yokaiden. The title's got plenty of snappy and witty dialogue, with plenty of information about yokai (demons). So, it's fun and educational! We all win with that!

Best New All-Ages manga: I suggest voting for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Because even at Mr. Cantler's age, it's still cool to read about Link and his adventures.

Best New One-shot manga: I suggest voting for Tokyo Zombie. The manga is so damn bizarre, and I love it for that fact. Kind of hard to put into words other than vote for it and buy it.

Best manga magazine: I suggest voting for Otaku USA. Why? Because Japanator is slowly taking over the magazine, that's why.

Best New yaoi/shonen-ai manga: I suggest voting for Love Quest. It's the only yaoi title on the list I've actually read, and the premise of these people in a fantasy land drawing their powers from two men swapping fluids is just ridiculous enough for me to enjoy it.
