Ruh roh! Saint Seiya Omega TV anime announced photo

It probably wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that Saint Seiya, in some form or another, was a big part of our collective childhoods. It's truly a classic, looked fondly upon even so many years later.

Which is why this news is a little bit of a head scratcher. Toei has announced that a brand new series, Saint Seiya Omega, will be airing in Japan come April 1. Before some of you pull out the April Fools Day card, just know that Japan doesn't really do that much, if at all.

Most alarming is the fact that original series illustrator, Masami Kurumada, appears to have nothing to do with the project. The series will be an original story following a new generation of heroes who don the Holy Cloth. Reiko Yoshida (Bakuman, K-ON!) is handling scripts while Morio Hatano (Heartcatch Precure!) is serving as series director. Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Heartcatch Precure!, Casshern Sins) is taking care of the character designs.

Yeah, I really don't what to say about this. How bout you guys and gals? Are you jazzed? Cautiously excited? Angry? Sound off below!
