Apparently several Japanese tabloids have been running rumors that the record-breaking j-pop act had planned on splitting up in order to become full-time dentists. When I heard that, I really didn't even know what to say. I mean, their logo is just a giant smiley face with letters for teeth, and, in my mind at least, that's as far as their association with oral hygiene went.
What surprised me more is that it turns out they're all actually dentists. I'm not kidding. I guess they had all met while studying dentistry, and had completed their studies prior to being offered a record contract back in 2007. That's kind of crazy, right?
Any ways, one of their vocalists, Hide, recently came out and squashed the rumors regarding the potential break up, stating "The media have created smoke where there is no fire, with the aim of taking your money. It stinks. Everyone, don't worry, we are not breaking up." Thank god, because that would have been heartbreaking. I absolutely love these guys, and I have a feeling you would too if you haven't heard them yet.
Greeeen has their first DVD coming out in December, featuring 12 music videos for songs like "Be Free," "Haruka," and "Kiseki."
Band member Hide explains that "after all of the members pass the prefectural examination in dentistry and receive permission from the directors of the hospitals they work for, the group may consider a public appearance." (Wikipedia)
