Samurai Champloo composer Jun 'Nujabes' Seba dies

Samurai Champloo composer Jun 'Nujabes' Seba dies photo

It's with a heavy heart that I have to report that the brilliant and talented composer, Jun Seba, died earlier today after complications related to an auto accident he suffered back on February 26th. Most of us know him for his work on the Samurai Champloo soundtrack, creating something that was truly memorable.

Beyond his own work, he was a great producer, helping to bring out some greatly innovative music in those he worked with. If you're looking to hear some of his other music, check out his label Hydeout Productions, where he oversaw the albums they put out.

He'll certainly be missed, especially since he passed away at a pretty young age -- only 36.

RIP Nujabes. You were one of the great ones, and your fans will miss you and your music greatly.
Oh damn, he will indeed be missed. I've enjoyed the samurai champloo ost for the last few years, he really did a fine job with it. I hope he is in peace and loved ones are well.
RIP Nujabes. You will be missed...
RIP , one of the best soundtracks for an anime I have ever heard.
This is a tragedy, Modal Soul, Metaphorical Music and the Samurai Champloo soundtrack were all stellar pieces of music. I'm so upset about this, I really am.
dang, his work on Champloo was amazing.

He will be missed

RIP mister Seba
Wow My day was going rather well but now its just sad. He was amazing and that still feels like an understatement.
Oh no... That is terrible! Samurai Champloo OST was one of only three OSTs I have ever actually paid for because it was so great. I'm actually pretty misty eyed right now.

Good night, sweet prince.
Oh God damn am I depressed now.

The music is what made SamCham for me, so this is really quite bad...

i thought he died last february and his death was only announced today on his burial
even that link says he died last february not today
*salute*
Samurai Champloo is one of the VERY few animes that I think had great music (the OP was awesome & the music in the anime itself was great). Very sad to hear about his unfortunate & early death....
RIP. You will be remembered for your great contributions to music.
As a hip hop and anime fan, Nujabes was always a great surprise for my fellow music fans, and scored one of the best anime series of the last decade. Sad news.
I can't say that I'll be sad because he will live on through his music. World's End Rhapsody is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard and I'll put it on loop for the rest of the day.

oh shit, this piece of news got me down. Such a great composer. :(
Mystline has been my alarm tone for at least 4 years. And Aruarian Dance has been ringtone off and on for about the same time. Now it makes it seem a little sadder every time I hear it.
OH MY...... this hurts my heart, rest in peace nujabes! we love your music and will miss you
*in shock*
His music will always be a part of my life. Rest in peace Jun, you are a part of hip-hop in my book.

Everyone please play "Just Forget" for me to honor him. Arigato.
I come home from work and see...this.

I've been listening to a lot of Nujabes lately, too.

Horrible.
Oh man, this is terrible news. Samurai Champloo was better than Cowboy Bebop for me and one of the contributing factors was Nujabes' amazing work in it. The man was a hip hop extraordinaire and I hope he rests in peace. He had amazing talent and he was far too young to be taken from this world. May his music live on forever.
omg... i really enjoyed his work, rest in peace good fella, ill miss you a lot.
that's a shame :(
my god...-_-
Why do all good people die young, is it like the trade off for being good at what you do. RIP and may your work inspire some fortunate individual to continue in your footsteps.
I'm depressed now.
I'm depressed now.
....MAN! -slams his fist on the table-

This SUCKS!...sigh he will definably be missed...RIP
Zetsubou-shita! Hearing about Nujabes' death has left me in despair. I love his music, especially from the Samurai Champloo soundtrack. I started to like it more after finding more of his tracks and songs he produced for rappers from Japan, the U.S. and the UK because of that show and have great respect for his work. R.I.P.
Man, I just today found your website and discovered this news. Damn. I was actually looking for Samurai Champloo to purchse. I loved the OST; found it in the local Best Buy. Sad news. Gonna miss that talent. Rip.

Curry Refills at Coco Ichibanya in Japan

After reading a recent article about getting free refills of curry sauce, I had my doubts. I completely trusted in the news, do not get me wrong, but it seemed too good to be true. There had to be some catch. I mean, seriously, we are talking about getting free curry sauce here. Join me as head into my local Coco Ichibanya in rural Japan and try to ask for a second helping of their fine sauce.
