The Japanese manga magazine, Morning, has just announced the top three winners of their 4th annual Morning International Comics Competition and have posted the winning manga in full in both English and Japanese.
Grand prize went to The Unreberating Echo, a highly original manga about a student who, suddenly and to much dismay, discovers that the letters N and G are disappearing from the alphabet. Soon, he can no longer see or pronounce the letters! He goes to report the issue only to discover that nobody else is having the same problem.
Second place went to Star Fields, a strange black and white vignette about a man and a television (!?) who meet by chance in a park. Both are upset and try to console one another.
The other second place went to Apple Baby Cat, the only comic of the three created by a professional comic artist. The judges adored not only the modern art style but the universality of the story.

Perhaps the winner wasn't that original after all.
