I'm jealous of kids these days. They really don't understand just how spoiled they are. Growing up, I didn't have anything like Pokémon, or Digimon. Sure there were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Ghostbusters, but nothing that really spoke to my inner otaku. It wasn't until I was in college that kids were playing things like Yugioh, and Pokémon, and I hate to admit it, but I'm kind of jealous that those weren't around when I was really growing up. Those games are responsible for an entire new generation of otaku. No doubt each of us knows a kid who grew up watching and playing games like Pokemon, and now thanks to Bakugan, even mere board games are starting to teach kids the ways of otaku-dom.
Watching as these kids were learning to play the game at Comic Con, I was amazed by how quickly they picked it up. What's more is that these kids are all going to end up as otaku for life. With the show being hugely popular with the Saturday morning TV crowd, it's no doubt that anything with the Bakugan name on it willl sell like hot cakes. Now, maybe it won't be as huge as Pokémon, but something tells me it'll get there in time. And, from what I witnessed, it's well on the way.
And Tim,thanks for being as old as I am. :) I always feel like the oldest person on sites like these.
