See some new gameplay footage from Atelier AyeshaThe Atelier series of alchemical JRPGs may not exactly be the most mainstream-friendly of JRPGs, but there's no denying that they've scored a cult following with their crafting-centric gameplay and moe-moe aesthetic. Now in the wake of Atelier Meruru and the conclusion of the "Arland" trilogy comes Atelier Ayesha, new offering that promises more of the same, except with a refined interface and new characters courtesy not of longtime character designer Mel Kishida (Hanasaku Iroha, God's Memo Pad), but Hidari, known for his work on Fractale. Fans of the series can now feast on a new trailer, located below. I like the new designs, frankly, as well as the fact that the talking cutouts are now in 3D. Hidari's light strokes translate well to polygonal work, and remind me of a more delicate take on Valkyria Chronicles' style. So far there's been no word on an English localization, but I wouldn't put it past NIS-America or some other outfit.
