For all of those who love their over the top and super manly Sengoku Basara, you're in for a treat! A feature film has just been confirmed by Production I.G. that a movie based on the animated series is in the works! The film will premiere in Japan on June 4, 2011 and features Kazuya Nomura, the head of the anime series, as the director. The screenplay will be by Yasuyuki Muto and animation will be supervised by Toru Okubo.
Think what you will about Sengoku Basara but the fact remains that the original video game series has sold over 2.2 million units and has spawned two seasons of anime. It's a ridiculous show, but that's why I love it! Well, that and the really terrible engrish.
The movie will be follow Ishida Mitsunari and his quest for vengeance after the defeat of Hideoyoshi, as well as Tokugawa Ieyasu and his desire to unify all of Japan under his rule. You can go to the official movie site here, but know that it's all in Japanese!
Anyone interested in seeing this film? I'm kind of curious just for the comedy inherent to the series.
