Rejoice, Japanatorians and lovers of synthesized voice everywhere! A new game starring everyone's favorite Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku, is on its way!

Our intrepid pals over at Destructoid have brought us news that another installment of the Vocaloid-errific Project DIVA series is in the works.

Not too many details are available, but rumor has it that the game may be bound for the home HD consoles, perhaps the PS3 or Xbox 360. It would certainly be a legendary thing to see Miku dancing on a properly-sized screen. Nico Nico Douga has already called for fan submissions of their favorite Miku songs for addition into the game.

I'm not the greatest fan of Vocaloids, but I definitely enjoy the memes they've helped generate. Considering that the current Project DIVA game on the PSP is already capable of incorporating custom songs, I'd love to see what can be done with the additional power large consoles provide.

If they were to make either a remake or port or sequel or whatever it would be of Project Diva for PS3 I would just up and die. That would probably be the greatest thing EVER!!!. Just imagining how great it would look and what you could do would be incredible.

Add on the ability to create and share your own music videos and such and you have one of the best titles on PS3.

Eh, I never caught on to this Vocaloid hype. The voices all sound too mechanical and disconnected to me.
I do like the "character" designs, though.

oh dear god yes! PLEASE come to PS3! This is definitely one of those import friendly titles I would pick up in a heartbeat!

Personally I think Vocaloid songs sound 10000% better then the auto-tune crap that American artists keep turning out these days.

I think part of the appeal to Vocaloid is how they sound so good yet there isn't a human actually singing. I mean look at how bad some of the text to speech things we have sound they can barely speak English let alone Sing in Japanese. However you are certainly entitled to your opinion and I can understand why some people don't really care for Vocaloid music.

PS3 Project Diva please! PS3 games are all region free so I would definitly import it like I did with the PSP version. The major problem of the PSP game is lag and a PS3 sequel/remake would probably fix that. Also, it needs more Black Rock Shooter!

Hope this is for PS3. I would be happy with a remake of the PSP game, though it would be cool if they added a karaoke mode. Also hope they have some of the other Vocaloids this time.

@Reibooi: The lack of emotion is what turns me away from this. The autotune stuff...sure, it's wrong. I'll say that. But basically this is the same thing, isn't it? You're just taking someone's recorded voice and picking which pitches it'll sing. Just more work with some artists because they can't sing for shit in real life and the Vocaloids would just be consistant tones.
I actually don't think it sounds so good, honestly. The disconnection between syllables throws me off just as much as the lack of emotion. (And honestly, there's some of a connection there.) I can't say I like "autotuned crap" very much, but there's emotion in it that I can connect with regardless. I'll avoid using it myself when and if I break into such an industry (that's the plan, anyway) but I think it's really on the same level as Vocaloids when it comes down to it.

The great thing about vocaloids is they have allowed people who otherwise would never have been able to get a song out there be noticed. You don't need singing talent to make a great song with Vocaloid. You just need to understand the basics of how music works. I disagree quite heavily on the lack of emotion in Vocaloid songs. Perhaps you have not heard the better songs like World is Mine and Koi wa Sensou. World is mine in particular sounds incredible and I hear alot of emotion in there.

@gwjunkie: it is true that the songs may sound too mechanical, but why don't you try watching a music video with some subtitles? maybe understanding what they're saying plus the visuals will help. I used to think like you until I watch some very emotionally powerful videos out there.

@Yaku: Sure, the lyrics can be emotional, the video can be stirring, but in the end the voices themselves sound just mechanical, and since I believe singers convey through words and vocal emotion what the "band" is conveying purely with music, it's just not my thing.
@Reibooi: In both songs, the music itself holds emotion, for sure, and I like the compositions...but as I've said above, the voices don't seem to me to convey what the music is conveying, emotionally.
I do see your point about getting noticed, but you could also just become a composer, sell it to artists, and even get paid for that, yeah? (Unless they get paid through this Vocaloid stuff somehow that I'm not aware of.)
Easier to get noticed on the internet front with Vocaloids, I suppose, since everyone (or rather, everyone otaku) seems to be into those at least somewhat nowadays.
